So, when I move, I'll need to hire a moving company to move my stuff. They run around $1200-$2000 for a place the size of a studion apartment. I'm pretty sure I can get it done for about $1200 or $1300, if prices have stayed the same over the last few months from what the moving company quoted me a couple months ago.
Then, I have to find the least expensive way to get myself to where I want to be! That is to fly. I can get a plane ticket for $200 through Southwest. But, I have cats. I looked into their pet policy and they will allow me to fly both of my cats in one carrier (that they sell) for a total of (including the carrier AND the flight, during which they will be under an airplane seat) $110. CHEAP, considering... I'll name that cost at $350 for the WHOLE flight, including food I will eat etc.
I've looked into places I'd like to live already, and the place I want to get in to charges a et deposit of $500 per pet. I already talked to them and they said they would allow me to pay that over the course of the first 2 months of me living there (YAY!). That takes down my upfront costs already! Rent where I want to live will cost me $535. Application fee and deposits are both $50.
Speaking of deposits... WATER AND ELECTRICITY! ok, so since I have been good to my electric company (never gotten a shut-off notice in the year and 5 months that I have lived here, YAY!) I probably won't need to pay a deposit to them, but I may need to pay a deposit to the water company. I don't think it will be any higher than $50. I don't have any credit and have never had to pay a water company before, so IDK. I wonder if they will take my good name from the electric company here like the electric company down there will... Hmm... Worth a shot! I'll plan for the $50, just in case they don't.
I'm going to give myself $100 for food to start me off there, too. Can't take food with me!
Ok, so adding up those numbers... thats $1300, $350, $100, $535, $50, $50, $500, and $50 means I have to save AT LEAST $2935.
I'm currently saving no less than $300 a month (this month I'm saving $400), as is my boyfriend to help me with the cost.
So far he has $900 saved up and I have $950 saved up. Total, that is $1850. I am expecting to move in October, so add our $700 from July (his $300 and my $400), our $600 from August, and $600 from September, and we will have a total of $3750! Since I'm not moving until October 25th, as predicted by me several months ago, we will have another $300 to add to it just from the $150 we will both put into savings at the beginning of the month, then, since I won't be where I currently am at the beginning of the month, I won't have to pay rent out of the paycheck I get right before I leave, so I will have AT LEAST $600 from that to put toward this move as well (YAY)!
SOOO... Total, I will have NO LESS than $4500 to work with for my move! YAY! That should be more than enough to cover my ass, especially if job-hunting takes a bit more time than that first month or 2 weeks or whatever it may be...
